Metro Atlanta Real Estate News

Metro Atlanta buyers are starting to get a little more breathing room. The latest Atlanta REALTORS market report showed more than 20,800 homes for sale across the area, giving the market about a 4.7-month supply. At the same time, sales were down compared with last year. The median sales price was about $445,000. More recent data also shows that Atlanta homes are taking longer to sell, and about 1 out of every 4 listings has had a price cut.

What does that mean? Buyers may have more room to negotiate. A home that has been sitting on the market could give you a chance to ask for a lower price, closing-cost help, or repairs. Sellers still need to price their homes correctly because buyers now have more choices. Mortgage rates remain a challenge, so buyers should also shop around with more than one lender before choosing a loan.
